Seattle weekend 2 and Halloween

So I am finally getting my butt in gear and am going to get this post done!
Anyways I went back to Seattle the next weekend for Halloween. While driving through snoqualmie I hit snow and rain and it was just not a fun drive.
That night I went to this little Italian place Tropea and it was amazing they had such good food! I thought I was going to burst when I left. The next day I went over to Zipper and got to go in and see all the little kids of the people who work there. They give the kids candy and the kids walk around to the different places so the employees can say trick or treat and the kids give them candy.
Unfortunately these pictures won't be all that great because I lost the charger to the camera so I had to take all of these from the phone.
The Next morning moved hotels and moved into the Marriott right across the street from the ocean! This is the view from the balcony of the room.
This is the HUGE COMFY bed that I love because no place is better than bed :P

The amazing food.
Then went over to the Aquarium that was right down the pier from the hotel.
They had pumpkins in the exhibits so I got a picture of one with a starfish on it.
The fish were really cool. Went at feeding time so I got to watch them feed the petting pool and the otters. I got a video but its hard to see much because of the sun :(
Then we went to Pikes market that was right behind the hotel.
Finally went back to our room for a bit to rest. We went to Sushi for dinner with our friend Justin came into town and Bill who lives in Seattle.
Then we got ready for the party! It was lots of fun here is a robot at the party dancing.


The next day as I was checking out to drive home I got a picture of the glass art in the lobby because it was really cool.
And that was Seattle weekend 2.

Seattle Weekend 1

I went over to Seattle for the weekend. I started out after I got off work that Friday. Seattle is about 5 hours away from Moscow driving and there is 2 ways you can go one takes you on a detour way out of the way and the other is the straight shot well the one that takes you on the detour is interstate the whole way and the straight shot is a dinky 2 lane highway in the middle of nowhere. I took the dinky route and a few hours out in the middle of nowhere it was dark and raining I blew out a tire. Below is how bad it was. Lucky some really nice people pulled over and helped me change it.

I got there decently late that night so went straight to bed. The next morning found out the Redmond farmers market was held right outside where I were staying so I wandered around and got some amazing cheese.
I also discovered Cabbage flowers. I had never seen these before but apparently they are pretty common in Seattle because there were everywhere.
Also discovered red sunflowers which were also everywhere and very pretty.

A lady there was selling Alpaca wool and she brought the Alpaca's with her.After the market I met Liz, Vic and Stuart for breakfast at the Belview club.
As you probably have noticed I like food so there will be a lot of food mentioning.
For lunch went to a Korean restaurant. They bring you a bunch of small bowls for appetizers.
One of the bowls had sardines in it which I am not really a fan of anything that stares at me while I am eating so I didn't try that out.
I got soft tofu soup which was really good it came boiling.Later that night when I went to dinner I went to a really good Indian restaurant named Mehfil if your ever in the Redmond town center go eat there its so good.
Outside I walked into a bunch of Zombies doing the Thriller! If you go to this link you can see what I walked into and about half way through if you watch the back behind all the zombies you see me walk up and stand back a bit we are in the white and black :P
But the weekend had to come to an end so I drove back home. Here is a picture of the Columbia.

To start I made amazing home made lasagna with my own home made marinara that I made from the tomatoes that grew in my garden.
Then I made french onion soup one day. This recipe was soooo good and so easy.
Then I decorated!

And made candy boxes for the little kids that will come trick or treating.
Went to the Melting Pot in Spokane. While there got cheese fondue to start and then salad then regular fondue with broth then for dessert then had chocolate fondue! it was soo good I was stuffed when we left.

Sarah! My friend Sarah works there so I got her as the server.
And finally yummy chocolate fondue. This was the Ying Yang hald dark and half milk.
Cheesecake dipped in the fondue.
And of course I got some more wonderful cupcakes from the cupcake company.

Reading

I absolutely love to read and last week I finished The Time Travelers Wife. This was a great book but very sad. I can't wait to see the movie now.

A few other books I really like that I have read in the last year or so are:

Drowning Ruth by Christina Schwarz
The Red Tent by Anita Diamant
My Sisters Keeper by Jodi Picoult (also a movie but I haven't seen it yet)
Stranger in a Strange Land by Robert A. Heinlein
Angels and Demons by Dan Brown (also a movie but not out yet I have read the series but this is my fav)
The Twilight series (also movies but so far I hate the movies)
If you are looking for a good read any of these are great.
Also if you want quick funny reads I highly recommend the plum series from Janet Evonovich that starts with One For The Money.
There are 15 books and they are hilarious well at least I thought so.

Professor Layton

I have always liked brain teasers and if you have a Nintendo DS I highly recommend these two games. They are a ton of fun lots of brainteasers to really get your mind going. These were originally released in Japan but they have recently come to the US. I got the Curious Village last year and it took me a while to finish the whole game but I have to say it is worth it.

I just got the diabolical box a few weeks ago and it has kept me thinking.

Recently

So Trin moved out and we had a very empty room so we moved our computers from our room to hers and this is her room now.
And the Bedroom.
My grandpa came up a few weeks ago to visit and we drove up to Farragut Navel Training station where he did basic in WW2. It was a lot of fun to see my grandpa.
Then this last weekend I went to the farmers market and I fell in love with cupcakes!
There was a lady there selling these. The one on the left is a snicker doodle and the one on the right is the black tie affair and they were amazing! I can't wait to go back this weekend and get another one or five.
As usual I got my garbanzo beans and rice from the little old Greek people and it was amazing as usual.
Then took a walk in the Arboretum. There were tons of turtles out her is one swimming in the pond.

At the end there is a bunch of flowers and dry gardening and I thought these were really cool spiky flowers.
and the bees were out too.
Made it to the end!

Trin comes back!

Triniti came to Moscow to get her stuff and I miss her tons now that she is gone :( but while she was here we did some fun things. She brought her boyfriend Alex with her and we went to Nectar for dinner. Trin and Alex at Nectar.
We went to Sangria for dessert and then went to Mix to have a few drinks. These are our drinks. If you go there I think its the Pom Passion is amazing.

The Next day we went Garnet digging. Star Garnets are only found in Idaho and India and the Emerald Creek Garnet digging area is only about an hour away so we headed up there. I thought it would be a fun thing to do with Trin since it is her birthstone. How you do it is you get buckets and go to this hill and load your self up with dirt. Then you sift through it in sifters and get all the dirt out and what you have left is rocks. You then take it down to the sluice and clean it off and then you can see the garnets. Its hard to find them though because they look like dark rocks. So here is Me digging.
