Books I read March and April + some other things.
In March I was super busy and didn't get very many books read so I am combining it with April because I caught up a bit.
So Here goes! I have a lot to do tonight so I am not going to post pictures of them because then I have to figure out where to get them all.
Here they are!
The Cat Who Saw Red
Xenocide
Hunted
Passive Aggressive Notes
Treasure Island
Fairy Tales Every Child Should Know
At First Sight
The Secret
Message in a Bottle
Metro Girl
The Perfect Storm
They are all pretty good I caught up though. That puts me at 23 which isn't too bad for it only being May :) I am reading Nineteen Minutes right now and I'm only 5 chapters into it but so far it has kept my attention pretty well.
On my 25 at Twenty Five list this is what I have done so far. Number 3 will be happening in 2 weeks and hopefully 8 will be following shortly after!
1.Get my wrist tattoo that I have wanted for 2 years.
2.Travel to somewhere new.
3.Graduate!
4.
5.
6.Let my hair grow long.(had to cut it off thanks to a gum incident)
7.Go swimming.
8.Get a real job.
9.
10.Take an art class.
11.Cook at least 25 new dishes. (10 done)
12. Eat something I said I never would.
13.Star Gaze
14.Fly a kite
15.Read 52 books.(23 done)
16.Buy a Rubik's cube and learn how to solve it.
17.Scrap book something.
18.Make an Amigurumi
19.Watch singing in the rain and it's a wonderful life.
20.
21.Get a massage.
22.Eat: Baba Ganoush, Papusus, Pho, Beignet and Marzipan.
23.Go rafting.
24.Get a pedicure, manicure, and facial all in 1 day.
25.

Slacking
I know I have been slacking off and I think to myself every day I need to go do a couple of posts since I have things to share but that also includes the horrible process of trying to take pictures off my camera which is very painful to say the least. But I will post about the weekend with my mom up here soon and what I read for March probably combine with April.
I just thought I would drop in and say YAY it's almost Easter!!! I love Easter for a lot of reasons but one of my top reasons for loving it... Lent is Over! Three very magical words in my mind.
Every year I give something up, usually something I think I can't live without then suffer through the weeks until lent is over. I try my hardest not to cheat and I have challenged myself in this because if I do cheat I do something that I learned in grade school at St. Nicholas (the private catholic school I attended Kindergarten through 6th grade.)
When we were little they had us write down what we were giving up and they posted it on a board in the class room with a little pocket thing below it. Any time you cheated on your honor you had to put a quarter in one of the slots of the pocket thing. Back then they thought of losing a quarter was like "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" /agonizing screams
SO I tried my hardest not to cheat because I wanted to keep my quarters.
Also I have to admit I gave up things that weren't exactly hard for me to give up back then.
I remember my god mother telling me she gave up red meat. The little wheels in my head began to turn and I thought "this is great I didn't know we could give up things like that." (Side Note: I'm not really a red meat fan and eat very little of it. I have always been this way) Of course this means that from first grade to probably fourth when I realized that wasn't a valid thing for me to be giving up I gave up red meat and had no problem following unless I was forced to eat it.
A little sidetracked there but anyways the quarters we had to put in the pockets were for a good reason. They taught us to be honest in that we had to do it and keep track of ourselves instead of lying (mine always had a ton of quarters)and they taught us giving up something is a way of showing what people with less have to go through every day.
I thought when I was younger (probably because when they told us this part I wasn't paying attention I was thinking of fairies and unicorns) that our teachers just kept the money after lent and spent it on pizza or books what ever grown ups did for fun.
When I was in 5th grade I found out that all the money collected from us gluttonous children was given to children that went without. Usually the hungry. I thought this was brilliant.
After I left St. Nicholas I moved on to Jr. high and they didn't have anything to do with lent seeing as public schools don't do religion. I made my own jar for lent and while practicing I would put in a dollar every time I cheated. This way it kept me learning the lessons of lent and I was giving something back to those that are less fortunate.
As I got into Jr. High I started giving up things that were harder and harder for me like talking on the phone, using the internet (not a big deal back then my world would end now.)
Now that I'm grown and still do lent I give up things that I am addicted to. Now I give 5 dollars every time I cheat. I know it's not much but when you're a broke college student 5 dollars is quite a bit. I donate this money to the meals on wheels program or any other program that helps with people in need. I typically always have something to give after lent. It's hard because I give up things that I feel I might go crazy with out.
Coffee has been a reoccurring theme just because I love it so much and the first week or two I majorly go through withdrawals. That's what I gave up this year and I have been trying to have no caffeine what so ever. This has been a huge challenge to me because I am on campus all day and everyone has coffee. There are a ton of coffee shops and the smell just makes my mouth water. In the past I have also given up doing my hair. I was allowed to brush it but no straightening or curling (almost died.)
I am glad to say I have not cheated at all this year. I plan on volunteering at the church to hand out meals to the elderly since I have no money to give this year. People feel very giving on holidays and they go to volunteer since there are so many people that volunteer those days I am going to go a different day and help out. they can always use the help and I have helped them before. It really is a wonderful program for people that can't feed themselves and the old people are so sweet and thankful.
This is why lent is so important for me. I am able to some what grasp what people that go with out feel like even though I know it doesn't even close to compare. I help out those less fortunate and am able to feel good about it even though it is through my own faults. Even if I don't mess up I still give to others which is an amazing feeling all in its own.
If you practice lent maybe try my method of keeping on track especially if you have a hard time leaving what you gave up alone. I swear it helps. If you do or don't practice lent go volunteer anyways and not just on Easter or Christmas there are hundreds of other days in the year where they need help just as badly.
I can't wait for Easter because lent is over and I can have my giant cup of coffee again but there are other wonderful reasons I can't wait for Easter as well. I'll keep those to myself because this is getting to be a really long post and I want breakfast but I hope you all have a wonderful day and I will try and get my pictures up and other posts soon :)

Spring Break and such
Last week was GREAT fun. It was bitter sweet since it was my last ever spring break. At least it was a good one.
Here is a rundown of the week.
The day I got down was Jeremy's birthday, we spent most of the day with my mom and the twins then that night there was a party for him at his parents. There was a lot of cake, yummy food and game playing.
It was a lot of fun, hopefully for him to :)
The next day we went to the dam to find some sticks and rocks for Char's cage. This was a blast. The weather wasn't hot but it was warm enough and we got to play outside :)
Here is me standing on the pile of sticks that I have now claimed and am going to make my home :p

Being a Ninja and trying tog et off the pile of sticks.

Jeremy carrying a fence post.

A view of where we were from the road. Thankfully Jeremy is an amazing driver so despite it being muddy we didn't get stuck.

I ran up behind him and snapped a picture of us together.

That night we went to Jackpot and ate dinner then I had to get down to Rupert to watch the twins.
A couple days later I went to Utah to visit mom where I got my hair dyed and cut, got to see the cutest puppies ever and got to hang out with mom. We went to the movies and went out to eat it was a lot of fun even though she had to work part of the time I was there.
Then back to Rupert for a bit then I went back to Jeremy's to hang out for the rest of the week since mom had to work that weekend.
That weekend we went to Elevation 486 in Twin for dinner, it was pretty good sadly it was night though so we didn't get to enjoy the view of the canyon.
That day though we drove around down in the canyon by the fish hatcheries. I snapped this pic out the window of the truck as we were going into the canyon.

Finally I had to head back home and get back to school and work :(
Here is a picture of the rocks we picked up for Char in his cage. As you can see he was enjoying his new rocks.

Finally this is a picture that I saw on another blog and it took my breath away. I love this locket from this Etsy shop! I couldn't help myself when I got into her shop and looking around I wanted most everything in the shop!

Well that was my week how was all of yours?

Secrets!
A lot of blogs I read people have been spilling secrets and I thought this was a fun idea. Most have been doing top 25 secrets and I am pretty sure I can come up with 25 things that not many people know or might be surprised to learn. So here goes with my secrets!
I'm a blog addict!
I have over 200 subscriptions on Google reader.
I love changing my hair color and nail polish as often as I can.
If you have known me for more than 30 seconds you probably already know this.
I'm not really sure what my real hair color is anymore.
I am a germaphobe and love things to be clean.
I also really love the smell of bleach.
I love coffee.
The smell, the taste, the look, I all around love it.
I also gave it up for lent this year and am hating life because of that.
I am a crazy cat lady at heart.
I hate animal shelters and pet stores because I want to take everything home.
I am obsessed with Winco's Tropical Krab Salad.
I keep a fork in my car and every time I go grocery shopping I get a pound and eat it on the way home.
As much as I hate shopping I love to online window shop.
I would own a lot more clothes if I had the money.
I also have very expensive taste in clothes.
I find sleeping on the floor much more comfortable than sleeping in a bed.
I love crafting.
Anything I can do with my hands.
I love being outdoors and climbing around.
Camping is one of my favorite things ever.
Forest smells make my day.
I hate pop.
It hurts my throat to drink.
My teeth feel fuzzy and mentally they hurt from the sugar.
I could eat a pint of ice cream every day if I wouldn't get fat.
Freshman year of college I did eat a pint of Ben and Jerry's almost every day.
I hate the texture of vacuum cords.
I wear gloves every time I vacuum.
If on accident I touch one or something with the same texture it makes me want to throw up.
If I could be anything I would be an oceanographer.
I really want to go on a sub dive down to the Titanic.
I will eat anything chocolate.
Unless it's white chocolate which I hate.
I can't spell for the life of me.
I thank god every day for spell check.
PostSecret makes me hopeful.
It's good to know other people have secrets worse than mine.
I am severely dyslexic.
Every time I read a number such as the time I check 3 times to make sure I got the right number for fear I'll give someone the wrong time.
I love jewelry.
Especially necklaces.
But hate big jewelry.
I love looking at shoes but hate wearing them.
It really freaks me out that since I have been wearing shoes all winter my feet are losing their calluses and starting to feel like a baby.
I am addicted to gourmet food.
I read food blogs and recipe blogs in my free time because things like Goat Cheese Truffle Dip and Trigona stuffed with Beef Confit and Mole Sauce sound amazing and make my mouth water.
People watching is one of my favorite sports.
I love sitting in the mall or somewhere and watching people trying to figure out what they are thinking or making my own stories up for them.
I love to read a good trashy novel every now and again. something that only takes me a couple hours to read and its just easy.
I love dresses but hate wearing them.
Every time I look at online stores that's the first section I go for and I pick out all of them I would wear.
I don't wear them for 2 reasons: I don't feel lady like enough to wear them and am pretty sure I can't pull them off. I am also afraid I'll be my clumsy self and fall.
I am seriously OCD about certain things and if they are not in their place or aren't just right it will bug me to the point that have to fix it or my world will end.
I constantly fight the urge to fix certain things when I am in public. People might think I'm weird.
There you have it 25 secrets! For the record I am not weird I like to think of myself as quirky ;)

Accomplishing things!
I accomplished things!!!!
I love it when I actually get things accomplished but I have been putting things off for a long while and I decided to get them done this week. First of all I got my Art hung! This beautiful piece that I finally got hung up was done but Katie Koozer she is an amazing artist and I bought 2 of her pieces a while back and hung the smaller one but this one I was having a hard time finding a frame for but I finally found one big enough. I got it hung and I know in the picture it was slightly crooked that is fixed now but I love it hanging there now I can see it every day. This is the one I have hanging by my couch. This one is hanging in my dining room.

I also finally got my bookshelf put together! I got this from a guy selling it on craigslist for 5 dollars but things got busy so it's been sitting in the closet for months so tonight I finally put it together since I have books all over the house. I have books everywhere and I needed one to put books that I am getting rid of so they aren't just hanging around all over so here is my awesome bookshelf that despite the directions being super hard to understand I got put together.

I saw these on another blog and love them! I wish I could get them for somewhere in my house.

Finally I saw this on Facebook and then a few friends emailed me the article. Revenge of the Introvert! I really enjoyed this article and I am an introvert completely. I like people but I prefer to be alone because I think better alone but I figured others might enjoy the article too. I especially love this quote "we hate people telling us how we can be more extraverted, as if that's the desired state, Many introverts are happy with the way they are. And if you're not, that's your problem."

What I've been up to!
February was super busy for me with school and work and traveling so here is a bit of what I did :)
First we have my little Char in his freshly cleaned cage and thats just because I want to show off my boy :)

I went to the Genesse crab feed that I have been wanting to go to for years. This was super fun I went with a bunch of people I work with. The night was filled with friends, wine and of course crab. here is a pic of my dinner in all it's wonderfulness. I had crab which this is only half the crab the other half was still wrapped up, potato salad, baked beans, and coleslaw. It was great.

Then I headed home on presidents day while I was down I gave Jeremy his v-day present which happened to include CAMO COOKIES!! I am very proud of them if you couldn't tell.

The next night we went to dinner in Jackpot Nevada with mom, Kody, Allison and her two boys Kody and Kamron. It was a great meal and a lot of fun I laughed so hard I was crying. The Next Day Jeremy took me out to shoot his new gun. The AR!!! This thing scares me but I have to admit it is fun. This is him shooting it.

We also went to balanced rock which was fun. I had never been there before. I got to learn all about it from an expert :)

We went to dinner that night and after dinner even though we were full we ordered dessert and got this HUGE piece of chocolate cake and even the two of us sugar fiends couldn't finish it.

That Monday was my fabulous Aunt Suzy's birthday and she doesn't look a day over 18.
While babysitting I ended up getting gum stuck in my hair and I had to cut almost 4 inches off which made me sad since I had been trying to grow it out. Since every time I go get my hair cut they charge me extra to cut it and dye it because it's so thick so this time I cut it myself. I had trimmed it myself before but never taken this much off myself. Then I dyed it and it was suppose to be a chocolate brown and it came out a bit lighter but I still think it looks fine. What do you think?

When i came back to Moscow there was snow almost all the way up but none in Moscow till the next morning I woke up to this...

The Next day was worse and it continued to snow for 11 days straight. This was the second day. A foot and a half on my car.

My hand in comparison.

Here is a picture of Kassie she can't stand being away from me so here is her favorite place to be.

Then for one of my 25 before Twenty Five I was suppose to cook new things so I made Chocolate Hazelnut Biscotti!
My ingredients are assembled.

I toasted the Hazelnuts which by the way is one of my new favorite smells. They smell amazing while baking.

And we have the final product my biscotti! They tasted wonderful but I think next time I will use less hazelnuts than they said to use.

Also I have been on a Rug kick recently. I have been looking into using new materials to make things and I have a wonderful rug in my kitchen that we paid 25 bucks for but I realized it was made out of torn up tee shirts knitted together. This is something that would take me an hour or so since it is just a simple knit. so I have now been making random things out of stuff so here are my 2 rugs I made this month.
The first I had a ton of fabric just sitting there so I decided to make a front door mat since mine keeps getting stolen.

Here it is all torn up and ready to be knitted.

The finished product! It has been out there for a couple weeks now and nobody has taken it :D

Then I started making one for my bathroom since one of mine got ruined. I had brown basic rugs in there that I was buying for 35 buck a rug at Bed Bath and Beyond but since I am trying to save money I decided to make one myself. I had the yarn already in my stash so I found a simple pattern and started knitting!

The finished rug in its new home :D

And so you have the last month of my life!

If it sounds like cookie making gnomes it's probably not.
For the last week or so I have been waking up to this scratching sound in my bathroom at about 5 am every morning. I am not a morning person so this was extremely annoying.
The first morning I heard it my initial reaction was "STUPID HAMSTER SHHHHHH" but then after a few moments of semi waking up I remembered I no longer have a hamster so that's not what it was. My second thought was "KASSIE KNOCK IT OFF" but then I rolled over to realize she was sleeping on the pillow near my head. This was some what baffling to me considering Char was not awake yet and the only other things that could make noise were dead or laying next to me.
As I lay there I pondered a whole mess of things from little gnome men who were living under my bathroom sink and making me cookies while I was asleep (imagine my disappointment in looking for my cookies that didn't exist) to giant rodents that were going to eat my toes in my sleep.
I went several mornings hiding my toes and looking for cookies before I was able to finally find out what this annoying sound was. Then one dreary morning I had the horrifying thought that if it sounded like my hamster it was most likely something small and furry like my hamster; then I freaked out, I knew deep down in my soul there was a mouse in my apartment plotting to be gross where ever it went and help it's self to anything it wanted!!!
Every morning as I was woken by this dreadful sound I would slowly slip out of bed one body part at a time and try to crawl like a stealthy army man into my bathroom to catch this awful little thing in the act. I slide across the floor trying to stalk my prey only to be foiled by the incessant "meow meow meow" of my extremely co-dependent cat trying to figure out why my interest wasn't in her but in this strange sound coming from my bathroom.
Every time I got close to the bathroom Kassie would start freaking out and cause the scratching to stop. I thought I was never going to catch the culprit. Having a blind cat wasn't going to help this situation either.
Finally after weeks of being woken out of my peaceful sleep by this noise that made chills run down my spine and sleeping with one eye open at all times to make sure its furry little self didn't try to climb into bed with me I was able to slip out of bed this morning without waking the cat up. I jumped in my excitement of this heroic feat only to wake her up. I held very still barely breathing hoping she would fall back asleep and after a few moments of me trying to act like a very sleep deprived statue it paid off she dozed back off.
I snuck into the bathroom like a ninja on crack only to learn the scratching noise was not coming from under my sink like I had thought it was coming from the vent in the bathroom. Alarms in my head went off "OH NOES THEY'RE IN THE CEILING!!!!" but a few moments later I was rewarded and relived to hear the soft chirping of baby birds. There weren't man eating mice invading my house, it was just a mommy bird climbing back in every morning to feed the babies. I can now sleep peacefully knowing my toes are safe from being bitten by anything other than my cat who so fondly likes to bite them the moment my alarm goes off in the morning to wake me up. :)
